Artist's Comments

OMG this took FOREVER..I finished the sketch and scanned it and started to vector it and I thought to myself that this shouldnt take that long. But it ended up taking 3 days to complete. >_>
there are still a few things i need to fix but for the most part its finished.
I really couldnt think of a background for it so i just left it white. Maybe I can find some cool swatches to play with later...who knows.

WHOA this is soooo pretty!!! You're really improving crazy lots with each piece. Some suggestions I can offer is to add more contrast with the shadow colors like for instance where the fish overlap each other and her yukata. I think it will make everything stand out more and be more vibrant. :) I know Illustrator can be a pain about stuff like that though..I think even making the BG a dark color would help! Also! One last thing don't kill me! The 4 little tails coming off her hairclip have such a harsh black outline and everything else has no outline or an outline of a similar lighter color(the light grey on the fan)..maybe a medium grey would be a more harmonious choice for those tails!

If you make these into shirts or something I'm SO buying one. :D

Yeah, this is your best vector yet! The colors are really great. So is the pose, fishes, everything. It's a more distinguished drawing.
:iconplastikman204:
yeah im really learning as i go still.
like half way through I learned how to group things and im SOOOO glad i did because adding the pattern of the kimono to other parts made it a lot easier.
youtube tutorials have saved me :D

and yes i will probably tweak the colors more and add some contrast. At the time i was just sick of looking at it for so long lol

I know the feeling. I always think my drawings will be quick, and they end up taking forever. My perfectionism is a big culprit.

That said, I think your work paid off, as the vibrant colors would do well to enliven a bedroom wall. The character's expression and pose look very natural, which is a big stumbling block for many artists. The overall sense of whimsy is simply delightful. :)
